What was the first album/band that got you into Goregrind, Gorenoise, Grindcore?
I was heavily into brutal death metal and slamming death metal and looking for new bands to listen to, so since I had an account at last.fm, I used the radio thing to check out some bands that were similar to Devourment. The first that caught my attention was "Vulcanic Eskimos", by Rompeprop. Hoooooly fuck, that song blew me away. The guitar tune/distortion was badass, and the pitch-shifted vocals were fucking incredible. Not knowing anything about goregrind OR pitchshifting, I was like "Holy shit, this guy's voice is fucking awesome."Getting into Rompeprop thus got me into LDOH, Jig-Ai, Ahumado Granujo, Methadone Abortion Clinic, etc. Although my first grind band was Terrorizer. I had heard the album World Downfall plenty of times before I had ever even heard of any brutal death metal bands (back when I only listened to Autopsy, Gorguts, Morbid Angel, Demilich, Suffocation, Immolation, Death, Bloodbath, etc) so when I heard Terrorizer I just figured it was also a death metal band. It wasn't until after I heard Rompeprop, got into grind, and looked up some shit about it before I actually realized what Terrorizer was.

What kind of music/bands did you used to listen to before you got into the genre?
Pretty much everything that a 14-year-old would think is 'heavy'. Some good and some really shitty bands, like Devourment, Disgorge, Blasphemer, Torsofuck, Aborted, Mortician, Nile, Cephalic Carnage, Suffocation, and a lot of other somewhat-popular brutal death metal and slamming death metal bands.

What bands did your parent/parents introduce to you?
My mom used to always listen to Nirvana and Alice In Chains when I was like 5 years old, so listening to the songs now has a nostalgic meaning and it makes me feel like I have nothing to worry about, even if the music isn't that great.

First Grindcore band/album: Cripple Bastards - split w/Praparation-H & Extreme Noise Terror - Peel Sessions this was probably the first introduction to extreme underground music for me. I guess my gateway was Old School Punk Metal like The Exploited and then came Crust Punk and led to Grindcore.

First Goregrind band/album: Carcass - Symphonies Of Sickness + Reek Of Putrefaction (Had the original UK first pressing of Symphonies with the Reek Of Putrefaction album tracks added as bonus tracks). I came across it in one of my older friends' (who was about twice my age at that time) collections and he ended up giving it to me. I saw the cover, popped it in the player and said to myself: I have to find more music like this, and been looking and finding ever since. This led to alot of rummaging through hole-in-the-wall record stores hours on end. I remembered back to my Crust and Grind years and alot of the bands wrote about political oppressions and animals rights which I was really into, soon to find out that the members in Carcass were vegans and used images of dead, mangled, and bloated bodies on their covers as a statement to put humans in the position that slaughtered animals were in. I've always been a die hard Carcass fan from the first time I heard them. Every single album they released is a fucking CLASSICK! To all you "Swansong" haters: FUCK OFF!

What kind of music/bands did you used to listen to before you got into the genre?
It was a really big mixture of Crust and Grindcore with the occasional Old School Punk mixed in. I never really got heavily into Death Metal, mainly because I was already into Grindcore by that time and always thought it was way fucking heavier and underground than death metal. I was more into Thrash Metal personally.

What bands did your parent/parents introduce to you?
My mother listened to alot of stuff.... Yes, Cream, Bread, The Moody Blues, Simon and Garfunkel, Pink Floyd, Old Genesis, Peter Gabriel, Led Zeppelin, The Eagles, Styx, Grateful Dead, INXS, Boston, Queen, Journey, Bad Company, Lou Reed, Nazareth, Cheap Trick, David Bowie, Iggy Pop, etc. the list goes on, in my later years she started listening to stuff like: Depeche Mode, NIN, Type-O-Negative and shit like that. She introduced me to alot of the Late 60s and Early 70s stuff she listened to as teenager and I ended up getting into alot of that type of stuff. Later she introduced me to the Sex Pistols and then the whole Punk phase started for me, then I started with the Goth & Industrial music like: Skinny Puppy & The Sisters Of Mercy. Then came the Thrash Metal and Crust Punk then Grindcore and Goregrind.

P.S. First Crust Punk Album: Doom - Police Bastard. If I hadn't heard this album I probably would have never knew what Grindcore or Goregrind was. Doom - Peel Sessions is a must have for anyone into Crust/Grind/Gore. I have it on Original 1st release cassette tape.

What was the first album/band that got you into Goregrind, Gorenoise, Grindcore?
The first album that made me into grind was a compilation LP I bought at some 2nd hand record store many years ago. The LP was called "Complete death II" and I heard the trashcore band Lethal aggression and I loved that kinda stuff! I started checking out some similar bands and since I was alot into crust and hardcore punk before that I already knew or some bands..They kinda met together and then I became this grindfreak I am today Smile

What kind of music/bands did you used to listen to before you got into the genre?
I listened to alot of oldschool rock n roll, blues and jazz but I listened a hell lot of crust and hardcore punk.I was a crustie back then so I was already aware of the brutal scene. I had also been listening to alot of death metak wich kinda made me used to brutal music in general, but I had never seen anything like grindcore before after the first time I heard Excruciating Terror, wich was kinda like the first band in this genre I started listen to/bought releases from.

What bands did your parent/parents introduce to you?
My dad introduced The Rolling Stones for me wich has been a big part of my life.I am a real nerd and I collect bootlegs n stuff like that. My mom introduced me to alot of heavy/thrash metal since she was an old metalhead. Anthrax, iron maiden, motörhead, kingdome come, helloween etc..

my uncle touched the inside of my butthole, so i decided the best way to deal with the trauma was to listen to lots of awesome one-man cybergrind taht talks about similar situations.

Sorry, I Can't help you out in your quest, Grinch..... but I hope that plenty of middle aged men come to your aid to try and help you figure out your true sexuality. Check out Enemaetic's Debut CD-R "Don't Skimp On The Meat". I can't say it will be much help, but at least it will be sick shit to your ears....oh wait, trite is your description. It remains to be seen.

I went from punk to extreme metal, so I suppose grindcore was an obvious path...

Can't really remember my first album or such, the bands I first went into were ENT, Agathocles, Cripple Bastards, Rompeprop, ...

I heard some Rompeprop and CBT songs I got off of limewire when I was like 13 or 14, I thought they were pretty fucking cool bands, but not favourites. Then I heard Effortless Regurgitation, my music taste kind of changed at that point and then I REALLY got into goregrind like LDOH and Plasma. I didn't really get into straight up grind until I was about 15, then I fell in love with Warsore and Agathocles.
I used to be into a lot of crust and hardcore punk, and lots of black/death metal. I listened to brutal death and shit for a while too, but it got fucking old FAST. I really started out in the whole punk scene, but I still got mad love for black metal.
My mom listened to bands like Suicidal Tendencies, Slayer, Danzig, Dayglo Abortions, Minor Threat. She used to be a punk back in the day and she actually knew some of these bands, which was pretty cool. My uncle listened to shit like White Zombie and Pantera, and I got into that shit super fast from being at his house all the time when I was a youngin. My grandparents raised me for the most part and they just jammed oldies from the 50's to 70's. Not gonna lie, I still love that shit.

copied from another forum

n 1997 I was primarily into Korn and The Deftones but became a fan of real metal around 1998 at the age of 15. Sepultura, Slayer, Pantera, Black Sabbath, Obituary, Death. was also a fan of prog and classic rock and stuff like Primus and Faith No More around the same time. however, this led me to punk and by 2000, I had completely abandoned metal in favor of bands like Bad Brains and Black Flag. got into Minor Threat and various newer hardcore bands like old Hatebreed and Integrity around this time and became straight edge (I abandoned edge two years later). got into some indie rock like The Jesus Lizard, Fugazi and Sonic Youth but detested riot grrl music. Die Kreuzen was my favorite band around this time. I was still into Sepultura and such but also became a fan of discore stuff like Anticimex and Disrupt around age 19, which led me to grindcore around age 22. from grindcore I got into sludge and noise rock and was a fan of this stuff for a few years plus stuff like DRI and Suicidal Tendencies. using soulseek I started to rediscover metal, starting with noisecore type grind, doom and black metal, then old school death metal, stuff like Revenge and Black Witchery (which led me into the left-hand path way of thinking, after a brief flirtation with paganism. I was raised Lutheran), and finally thrash metal like Kreator and Destruction. did not like traditional metal like Iron Maiden until a few years ago. and now here I am.
