| I have 31 year old friend who already likes stuff like Anthrax (mostly with John Bush), all Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, and Suicidal Tendencies. I've played him death metal and grindcore and he simply does not like it. he used to like a lot of nu metal and also digs bands like 311 and Sublime.
I posted a video of Cryptic Slaughter - Too Much, Too Little and he liked it.
whats some good crossover he might like?
guidelines:
can be fast, but not too fast (no blastbeats) must have clean, understandable vocals, even melodic singing.

| Def. PSYCHO! Good Call On That One Grinch. I Love This Band! One of the best Thrash to Grind crossover bands ever. Not many bands have taken the route of transition from thrash to grind quite as well as these guys. I'm def. a huge fan. Have your friend check out the Riches and Fame album and then have him listen to their split w/ agathocles, that will surely make him an instant fan of this band as well. Also it might have him let his guard down to be open for listening to more Grindcore. | |

| I'm pretty stumped on thrash, but why not try hardcore? Black Flag's Damaged, MDC's Millions of Dead Cops, and Bad Brains's Bad Brains are incredible albums that are definitely worth showing to him. | |

| What always pissed me off about some the the hardcore bands was the fucking gay ass harmony vocals some of them used to use. It was always really irritating that in the middle of a breakdown "Heaviest Part Of The Song" they would have someone imitating the sounds of a catholic priest-fucked quire boy. GAY GAY GAY! @ grindmonkey - Stick with the Thrash And Grind crossover bro. seriously. Plus Psycho is probably your best bet. Seriously, Psycho - Old School Punk to Thrash then Grind one of the best transitional bands to date. | |

| Dr. Know's Plug in Jesus is my standard for crossover. It's just evil, relentless hardcore and the guitars SCREAM.
Also, I don't know how I forgot to add the first Suicidal Tendencies record. I think that one is overlooked too often since "institutionalized" became such a novelty.

yea, I don't like that either but we're talking about a guy who still actually admits to liking Korn here. I tried playing him some grind and death metal and he just didn't like it. thrash is ok, though. I think he'd even like 80s hardcore revival. and by clean vocals, I mean shouts, as far as the melodic singing goes, think Suicidal Tendencies, not gay crap like All That Remains, although I think he'd like those guys too, unfortunately

I don't know, he's pretty stubborn and set in his ways, I'd just be glad if he liked a ton of crossover.

| if it's got to be crossover/thrash tell him to try out some of these:
D.R.I S.O.D ARTILLERY (they released a killer new album lately - i think 2009) EXHORDER MINOTAUR RAZOR RAZOR OF OCCAM NECRONOMICON RIGOR MORTIS
some new bands like Municipal waste, gama bomb or demiricus could do the trick also, but for me older bands in this style is always better...
